I recently received an email of a real life event involving a Q7 and a South African task force Oryx helicopter. I decided to publish this person's email as a 'BIG-UP' to all the guys & gals who put their lives on the line, to make our country a safer place to live for our friends and family.

      

One of my best mates is an Oryx Commander and used to be at 17SQ at Swartkops. He's a test pilot now for the air force.

They were busy with training ops in conjunction with the task force in Bloemfontein when a call came in of an attempted high jacking and probable casualty on the Bultfontein road.

Stefan (pilot) and them just touched down after there exercise when this came in and took off almost immediately. The incident happened somewhere on the Bultfontein road but with the following incidents in sequence:

• Call comes in and they radio that ETA is approx. 3.5 minutes.
• 3 minutes after takeoff they spot a Q7 doing about 180km/h on a gravel road
• Coming down to about 3 meters above ground level next to the Q7 they confirm the suspects
• They fly out in front of them and attempt to land in the gravel road to stop them... the Q7 heads for Oryx and they pull up.
• They reach the Bultfontein road and turn onto tar, now they are doing 250km/h.
• Again they come down to about 3 meters next to the Q7 running flat taps
• The next moment the suspects pull out 4 AK47's
• All hell breaks loose and the winners are: TAAAAASK FOOOOOOORCE!
